GREETERS WANTED We would like to have some new faces for greeters for the 9:15 and 11:00 services.  If you would like to be a greeter for either service, let the church office know. You would need to be here about one half hour before the service.

NURSERY HELPERS NEEDED!  There is a sign up sheet on wall in nursery.  Please help us out.

The New Clothing Closet is getting underway.  We are in need of a few volunteers.  A sign-up sheet with a list help needed will be on the table in the Narthex.  We are in immediate need of racks, shelves & hangers.  So we are not bombarded all at once with clothing, please follow the donation schedule:  If your last name starts with A-H please begin bringing your clothing donations the week of August 2nd, I-Q the week of August 9th, & R-Z the week of  August 16th.   We will also be accepting small household items, please hold off on those until the week of August 23rd.  You may bring items to church on Sunday or drop them off from 10am-2pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays in the month of August.  Place GENTLY USED items in the donation box in the downstairs hallway of the Christian education wing.  Our first official date of operation will be Sept. 5th from 9-11am.  More info soon!!!

The G.I.F.T. Group is beginning a card ministry.  Every month they’ll send cards to shut-ins & a local nursing home.  If you’d like to help out with this ministry, they would appreciate donations of cards & postage stamps.  “Thinking of You” or blank cards are most helpful.  Donations can be given to Patti Miller on Sundays or dropped off in the office, labeled “G.I.F.T. Group.”  Thank you!

Children’s Prayer Board   K-Force is starting a prayer ministry. They’ve been learning to pray for others needs & would like to pray for you. Each week, after today, you’ll find their Prayer Board in the Narthex. Please grab a set of praying hands from the pocket on the front of the board. Write your prayer request on it & pin it to the board. The children will then pray for that need/concern.

Food Bank Collection   The children of the church are collecting boxes of Mac & Cheese  for The Youngwood Food Pantry.  They will be collecting through March for the April pantry date.

Summer Camp registration forms and information are available on the table in the church greeting area.  You can register online or by mail.  Also for those campers actively involved in the ministry of Christ UMC, the church will continue to help by defraying the cost of camp by 50% on one camp session per camper.  Please contact the office for more information on that, or for any additional needed scholarship monies.  We do not want cost to be a reason for someone to miss out on attending one of our United Methodist Camping retreat locations.  If anyone would like to contribute to the campership fund by providing a partial or full camp scholarship, funds can be placed in the offering plate and ear-marked for “Campership.”

A Bob Evan’s Fundraiser is being held this week, April 18-22, for Richard Lowers, he recently passed away in a car accident & was the manager at the Greengate Bob Evans.  Jason Bankosh, attends the 11am service with his family & Richard is his step-father.  Please consider supporting this fundraiser.

CUMC Scholarship  Christ UMC has a Higher Education Scholarship opportunity available to all members of CUMC. Its purpose is to aid members in pursuit of higher education.  There’s a max. of $600 for FT students & $300 for PT students per academic year, as funds are available.  Applications available in the church office & due by June 1, 2016.  Monies will be awarded by July 15th. Final eligibility is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee. Donations can be made any time of year - place in the offering plate & tag ‘Scholarship Fund’.

Vacation Bible School is June 13-17.  If you plan to volunteer to help with the kids & don’t have clearances on file, please see we get them. You can submit copies of your recent clearances or stop in the office for forms to fill out.  If you return them to the office, we’ll send them in at no cost to you, as it is for volunteering. Do this ASAP, as they take time. (Note: If you received your clearances from the last batch we sent, please see we get a copy at the church.)

Shoe Collection   The Erie United Methodist Alliance Church has just begun their annual shoe drive.  They are collecting new/gently worn shoes which can be deposited in the box in the narthex from now up until June 7th, as they will be collected at Annual Conference.  The shoes collected will help those affected by homelessness & disability in Western PA & around the world.  You will also keep the hazardous chemicals in shoes out of our landfill, soil & water supply.  And you will support micro enterprise in developing countries.  You may even save a life.

Facility Rental   Please keep in mind that we have a great facility here for rent.  The summer months are pretty open.  Please contact the office, if you or someone you know is interested in renting the pavilion or a part of the building.
