GREETERS WANTED We would like to have some new faces for greeters for the 9:15 and 11:00 services. If you would like to be a greeter for either service, let the church office know. You would need to be here about one half hour before the service.
NURSERY HELPERS NEEDED! There is a sign up sheet on wall in nursery. Please help us out.
The New Clothing Closet is getting underway. We are in need of a few volunteers. A sign-up sheet with a list help needed will be on the table in the Narthex. We are in immediate need of racks, shelves & hangers. So we are not bombarded all at once with clothing, please follow the donation schedule: If your last name starts with A-H please begin bringing your clothing donations the week of August 2nd, I-Q the week of August 9th, & R-Z the week of August 16th. We will also be accepting small household items, please hold off on those until the week of August 23rd. You may bring items to church on Sunday or drop them off from 10am-2pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays in the month of August. Place GENTLY USED items in the donation box in the downstairs hallway of the Christian education wing. Our first official date of operation will be Sept. 5th from 9-11am. More info soon!!!
LIBRARY VOLUNTEER We have not had a librarian in quite some time and we have some books that are just in need of being catalogued by someone who has the knowledge to do so. If you are interested and able to assist with this project, please call the church office. It can be done on your schedule, we are just trying to get the library straightened up in hopes of utilizing it more fully.
Opportunity for Learning The JOY class will begin a study of the Book of Hebrews Sunday, September 13th at 10:30am. There is no other book in the New Testament that helps us understand the present work of Christ as does Hebrews. You are invited to join us for the journey. We meet in the Baumann Room/Parlor.
Operation Christmas Child September collection item is candy (nothing that can melt). Please deposit in the boxes located around the church.
Bible Study being offered by Rev. Bev. A short term Bible Study will be offered this fall. We will be studying Unusual Healings by Adam Thomas. This is John’s unusual perspective and how he speaks to contemporary Christians, calling us to respond in our lives- leading to healing, new life, and mission. Classes will be Mondays. 10am at St. Paul UMC in Youngwood & 7pm at Pleasant Unity UMC. Classes will be 9-28, 10-5, 10-12, 10-19, 10-26. If you have questions call Bev at 412-953-4041. Join us at Greensburg First UMC on October 17th for WorshipFest, an unforgettable spirit-filled worship encounter for laity and clergy!
The event features two dynamic services along with inspirational HelpShops for planning and engaging in experiential worship.
This unique opportunity features spirited preaching by General Evangelist Rev. John Zimmerman and by Rev. Roy Gearhart as John Wesley. Worship leaders including The Bethany House Drummers, Capella IV, The Garden City Gospel Choir, The Bonnie Ross Ringers, The Jubilate Dancers, The Chancel Chanters, Tintinabulum, Ruth Hughes, Cory Clippinger, A.G. Lee, Cynthia Hill, Aubrey Dulaney, and Kathy McLay will uplift the congregation as we give glory to God.
During the break, participants will enjoy a delicious, homemade lunch and may join COSROW in the One Conference, One Book discussion; visit the Cokesbury display; or engage in a fun fitness activity with Rev. Scott Gallagher. WorshipFest concludes with “Living Communion” and a moving dove release.

The Advent of Christ” Advent Bible Study led by Susan Murphy will be held on Thursdays, beginning November 19th thru December 17th at 10am (no class on Nov. 26th) It will also be held on Sunday mornings at 10:30am in the Fellowship Hall from November 29th through December 20th.
SOZO TRAINING offered at CUMC every Tuesday evening, 6:30 to 8:30, from Oct. 27 thru Dec 8. SOZO is the Greek in the NT translated ‘to save’, ‘to heal’, ‘to make whole’, or ‘to deliver.’ The goal of SOZO training is to provide tools and understanding to equip the saints for the work of ministry. Looking for a Healthcare Professional that would be willing to examine the church’s 3 First Aid Kits and make recommendations for properly stocking them, as well as review them quarterly to keep them updated.
All-Church Family Retreat We had a very brief meeting after church last week to discuss ideas for our next retreat.
